About the town

Leidschendam is situated almost in the Hague's suburbs. In 2002 Leidschendam, Voorburg and Stomwijk village created a commune.
The town offers picturesque views – especially, genuinely Dutch, meadows and windmills. In the town's environs lie several lakes – soon to be adapted for tourist and recreational purposes. One of the lakes (located near a shopping center) is named after Konstancin-Jeziorna.

The partnership between our towns started around 1990, and was sealed by an official agreement singed by Konstancin-Jeziorna Commune Mayor Józef Hlebowicz and Leidschendam Mayor Will de Vreeze. The cooperation covered health care, public housing, organisation and administration, tourism, agriculture, horticulture and the environment. Education, culture and direct aid were added in 1993.
Currently the most important are exchanges of students, teachers and sportsmen, international exhibitions and numerous social welfare projects.
